"So this is the new year and I don't feel any different." - Death Cab For Cutie

Another year, another December filled with music fans filling social media with screenshots from their Spotify and Apple Music wrapped. This January The Chaos Collective shared their thoughts about the past year along with their top streamed songs from 2025. Together, our collective shares an eclectic taste; spanning from local metalcore artists to small international alt pop icons. Here is what we learned:

Maddox

It's the first year I haven't had Halsey or Taylor Swift on my Wrapped; which also reflects that I listened to a lot of smaller artists this year who largely produced music about being LGBTQ+ across different areas of the experiences of being a lesbian/bisexual/trans/straight and trans/religious & LGBTQ.

  • "Hot and Stupid" - Beth McCarthy

  • "Word for Word" - Kat Victoria

  • "the sex was good!" - Xana

  • "Groupie" - Rachel Bochner

  • "Proud of Me" - Eva Pagan

Alec

I started going to more shows by myself more because missing the show is sometimes worse than the anxiety of going alone. Also, take chances on smaller bands. I found my favourite band this year and ended up going to seven of their shows on tour. Live shows can make you fall in love with an artist, so always show up for the support acts. You might find your new favourite band.

  • "Sports Car" - Tate McRae

  • "WILDFLOWER" - Billie Eilish

  • "Pazifik" - Provinz

  • "Armageddon" - Blindlove

  • "Wires" - The Neighbourhood

Rachel

There were times in my collegiate career when I was studying and there were tears of anxiety going on behind the scenes. As an overachiever, my biggest fear was (and still is) failure. I used music to cope with my anxious thoughts, a soundtrack being my shield. On December 13, 2025 I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Business Administration in Digital Marketing with a Certificate for International Business

  • "Sweet Blasphemy" - Black Veil Brides

  • "Dark Reverie" - Queensryche

  • "Masterpiece." - Motionless In White

  • "A Grave Mistake" - Ice Nine Kills"

  • "More Than Meets The Eye" - Testament

Anna

I got so many friends in bands, and I definitely want to show my friends the support. Local music forever!

  • "Impulse" - Set For Tomorrow

  • "Drag Me Out" - Archers

  • "Made For Love" - Archers

  • "Doom + Gloom" - Set For Tomorrow

  • "Vibe" - Fluorescents

Hana

I don't think anyone is shocked by my listening habits. I am what you get when you mix As It Is with Transit -- New England trash with a decent music taste. Maybe next year I'll break from my shell more in 2026. Cheers to hoping I break more than wrists this season!

  • "Weathered Souls" - Transit

  • "Dial Tones X" - As It Is feat. Lucas Woodland of Holding Absence

  • "Lose Your Way & Find Yourself" - As It Is

  • "Rest To Get Better" - Transit

  • "Airhead" - Honey Revenge
